Timothy (“Timo”) der Weduwen is the founder and managing director of TisaMayo International Consultancy. Since 2018, he has built and led a trusted network that spans global partners and assets, enabling the delivery of best-practice risk management consultancy and advanced training to clients worldwide.
With decades of operational and leadership experience, Timo specialises in high-risk environments, critical incident management, kidnap-for-ransom incident management, and leadership development. He has served in senior roles with the Netherlands Police, the European Union, and the United Nations and has directed specialist teams across some of the world’s most complex and challenging settings.
After completing the international hostage negotiation programme at Scotland Yard, Timo spent 28 years as a senior hostage negotiator and kidnap incident manager, responding to crises across multiple continents. He is the program director of the Kidnap for Ransom Incident Management (KRIM™) Programme, which since 2021 has certified incident managers in more than 20 global organisations. He also co-directs the Negotiator Programme (TNP™) and the Leadership Accelerator Programme (LAP™), both accredited at RQF Level 7, advancing standards in negotiation, crisis communication, and executive leadership training.
Renowned for his cutting-edge simulation and scenario-based learning, Timo designs and facilitates trainings that build both personal resilience and institutional capacity under pressure. He has led award-winning change management initiatives, chaired Boards of Inquiry, guided after-action reviews, and advised oversight teams on embedding integrity strategies in practice. As the leading voice in TisaMayo’s humanistic approach to risk management, he helps organisations anticipate and adapt to the risks of the 21st century.
Timo holds a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and is an alumnus of the Netherlands Police Academy. He speaks Dutch, English, German, and Swedish, and is conversant in French.
