Associate Partner Mark Lewis is a senior consultant with on-the-ground experience designing and delivering projects in emergency and conflict settings. He specializes in working with teams to create strategy, design proposals, engage effectively with stakeholders, and delivering in complex environments. He has worked in emergency and post-conflict roles in Iraq, The Philippines, Somalia, Ukraine and Türkiye.
He specializes in designing and implementing projects that can adapt to complex changing environments. He has designed Problem Driven Iterative and Adaptive (PDIA) Programmes for international organisations in West Africa, Somalia, and Iraq, and has presented the core principles of this approach in a half-dozen other missions around the world.
During 12 years with the UN (IOM and ILO), Mark has developed an excellent reputation as a consultant and trainer on project development, grants management, stakeholder analysis, project risk analysis, PDIA approaches, social mixing principles, sports for development tools, gender mainstreaming, project management, report-writing and monitoring and evaluation.
Mark has a BA in History, and an MA in International Relations (Middle East) from Durham University, UK. Mark is a certified Gender Officer.
He is currently based in Türkiye, having fallen in love with the country after managing a two-year, 11m euro programme for the EU on Social Cohesion and Capacity Building. He lives there with his wife and young son, enjoying the quiet and friendly city of Ankara, traveling often around the country.
