Ruben is a crisis response consultant with over 30 years of international experience in crisis management, security operations, and crisis communications. A former officer in the Royal Netherlands Army, he has worked in more than 35 countries across South America, Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. He has held senior advisory roles with organisations including iMMAP and GIZ. 

He has directed responses to kidnappings, maritime piracy, evacuations, and complex security incidents and is a certified Kidnap Incident Manager. His work centers on supporting safe recoveries and strengthening organisational resilience. 

Ruben is the principal consultant of Fortis Advisory, a Vietnam-based crisis management consultancy that provides discreet and rapid support to organisations operating in high-risk contexts.
